The pressure die pushes the tube against the wiper - and bend die. Wrinkles are prevented or minimized by the wiper die since the tube is jammed between the mandrel and the wiper die by means of the applied force from the pressure die. A schematic view of the bending dies is represented in Figure 1. Figure 1: Rotary Draw Bending - a schematic ...

2 The Discrete-Element Method in LS-DYNA In LS-DYNA, the DEM is realized using rigid spherical particles, while interactions with other rigid or deformable structures are accomplished using penalty-based contact algorithms. Note that the DEM computes the motion of each spherical particle using Newton's law of motion and thus, each particle

Availability of element and material formulations for LS-DYNA Implicit The tangent stiffness matrix must be calculated for implicit materials. The tables below summarize the availability of material formulations in combination with element types.

The respective run times for 7 of the 21 parts analyzed can be seen below in Table 2. The LS-DYNA Feasibility and Baseline Runs were performed on the GM HPC using 8 CPU's. The Autoform iterations were performed using the GM HPC using 4 CPU's. The run times shown below in Table 2 are the respective CPU run times and do not include queue time.

The bending of the tube is done by a swing arm where the tube is clamped just beyond the initial point of the bend. The tube is thereby being drawn around the bend die and a mandrel can be placed inside the tube to assist in forming the bend while controlling ovality and to prevent collapse of the tube during the bending.

Ls-Dyna is a general-purpose multi-physics simulation software package. It was originated from DYNA3D, developed by John Hallquist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1976. The software was commercialized as LS-Dyna in 1988 by Livermore Software Technology Corporation ( LSTC ). The main Ls-Dyna capabilities are:

The European LS-DYNA Conference will be held in Baden-Baden, Germany on October 18 and 19 2023. With about 200 technical presentations, top-class keynotes, an accompanying exhibition and numerous international participants from industry and academia, the conference is the central event around LS-DYNA in Europe.

LS-DYNA is the first commercial code to support IGA through the implementation of generalized elements and then keywords supporting non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS). Many of the standard FEA capabilities, such as contact, spot-weld models, anisotropic constitutive laws, or frequency domain analysis, are readily available in LS …

Getting started with LS-DYNA. LS-DYNA is used to solve multi-physics problems including solid mechanics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics either as separate phenomena or as coupled physics, e.g., thermal stress or fluid structure interaction. This manual presents very simple examples to be used as templates (or recipes).
